Canine Search Solutions

Sandy Vernlund is active in all aspects of K9 Search and Rescue and is currently the President for Brookings County K9 Search and Rescue (see links page). She is also a NASAR SAR TECH II, Certified CERT Instructor, NASAR Hug-A-Tree Presenter, MLPI and AFRCC SMC Graduate. Member of NAPWDA and Canine Search Solutions (CSS).

 

Trouble is Sandy's current Human Remains Detection dog. Trouble is a two year old Malinois/GSD mix from Matt Kinneberg in North Dakota. Both parents of Trouble are working contract police dogs in North Dakota and as his name implies he is all "GO". Trouble is NNDDA certified in Human Remains Detection.

Jet is a ten-year-old purebred Belgian Shepherd (Groenendael) from a rescue in Kentucky. AKC CGC. Jet passed his US Border Patrol Area Search evaluation in June, 2015 and passed his HRD certification with NAPWDA in June, 2016 and May, '18, '19 and '21. Jet retired in the fall of 2023 and is living a happy, relaxed life in the country with Sandy.  

 

Dooley is an nine-year- old Treeing Walker Coonhound from the Cedar Rapids Humane Society. ACK CGC. He has a natural talent for tracking and passed his Tracking certification with NAPWDA in June, 2016 and May, '18, '19, '21 and '22.  Dooley retired in the fall of 2023 and is chasing rabbits in the country.

Rowdy passed away in January, 2021 at the age of 13 1/2. Rowdy loved his job. AKC CGC and certified for Cadaver Detection NASDN '10, NAPWDA '10,'11,'12,'13,'14,'15,'16, '17, '18 and NASAR HRD Land III, '11. Rowdy retired in the spring of 2019 after years of faithful and reliable service. Rowdy has many confirmed finds and assists with many homicide and missing persons cases.

Shadow passed away in May, 2017 at the age of 13 1/2 years. AKC CGC, Certified Building Search NAPWDA '06, '12 and '14. Trailing NAPWDA '06. Certified for Area Search Non-Scent Discrimination with NASAR Canine SARTECH II '07, NAPWDA '06, 07, '08, '09, '10, '11,'12,'13,'14 and NASDN '07.Passed her Area Search Evaluation for the US Border Patrol 2015. Certified for Cadaver Detection NASDN '10. Shadow's favorite job was working with young children and helping to teach them what to do if they got lost.

Bodasafa "Boda"  tragically died in the spring of 2015. Boda was a Treeing Walker Coonhound/Lab mix. AKC CGC and certified for Tracking and Trailing with NAPWDA '07,'08,'09,'10,'12,'13,'14 and Basic Mantrailing with NASDN '08. He will be missed greatly.
